I’m passionate about ensuring that yoga is safe, welcoming and appropriate for people with arthritis and chronic pain. I founded Yoga for Arthritis based on years of research on this topic. I provide training and mentorship to yoga professionals, offer online content for people with arthritis, conduct individualized yoga therapy in person or remotely, and speak about yoga research nationwide.
Yoga for Arthritis is a leader in providing evidence-informed practices and trainings for yoga teachers and students. Combining ancient wisdom with modern research, Dr. Steffany Moonaz and her team of yoga professionals serves people living with arthritis and their care providers with a whole-person philosophy that fosters joyful living with any diagnosis. Our mission is: 1) To assist people who are feeling disconnected from their bodies so that they can rediscover freedom of movement, and the inner power to live life on their terms; 2) To foster a new concept of the possibilities for people living with arthritis; 3) To free our students from pain, if only for a moment, so that they might experience pure joy and know that it is their true nature; 4) To foster a change in our relationship to pain so that it might serve as a vehicle for discovering meaning, purpose, priorities and even greater joy.
