Katie has been teaching yoga and guiding embodied exploration since 2005. She is an ERYT-500, Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Yoga Teacher Trainer, Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), and was a certified Anusara Yoga teacher for many years.
In her asana classes, Katie teaches dynamic alignment in progressive and sustainable flow. She believes that “aligning” is not about looking any particular way or getting it “right” but rather about using reference points in the body to focus our attention, deepen our sensory awareness, and coordinate our movement in intelligent patterns that reflect wholeness rather than fragmentation.
Deeply informed by long time studies in non-dual Tantra and current studies in applied psychology, Non Violent Communication (NVC), Somatic Experiencing, and creative movement practices, Katie weaves practicality, relevance, and soulful intention into her teachings in ways that are accessible, down to earth, and change making.
Katie offers workshops, immersive study programs, retreats, and yoga teacher trainings at studios across New Zealand and overseas. Outside of groups, she is devoted to supporting the body’s own healing process in one-on-one yoga therapy. Katie works with both physical rehabilitation and with mental health, and offers ongoing mentorship|supervision for yoga teachers and yoga therapists.
Off the mat, Katie is currently completing postgraduate study in Counselling and is training in Peter Levine’s body psychotherapy modality, Somatic Experiencing.
